RATINGS

93-95The Wine Advocate

...has an enticing bouquet with orange zest, quince and fresh strawberries that frankly you could sit and nose all day! It's just gorgeous. The palate is very well balanced with a keen thread of acidity that is necessary to counterbalance the intense lightly honeyed, vivacious citric fruit that fans out wonderfully on the bravura of a finish.

92James Suckling

This is very minerally and tangy with sliced lemon and tropical fruit character. Full body, bright acidity and a clean, long finish. Beautiful.

PRODUCER

Louis Jadot

Maison Louis Jadot is one of Burgundy’s most respected negociants. Founded in 1859 by the Jadot family, the prestige and quality of the estate’s wines were well established in the 19th century. The family continued buying highly desirable vineyards in the 20th century. In 1985 the estate was sold to Rudy Kopf, Jadot’s American importer. Located in Beaune, the estate has 336 acres of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Gamay. Though all the maison’s wines are known for their high quality, signature wines are the Bonnes Mares, Chambertin-Close de Beze, Chevalier-Montrachet les Demoiselles, Corton-Charlemagne, Le Montrachet and Musigny. Pierre-Henry Gagey is president.

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet, Les Folatieres

Les Folatieres is a 43-acre Premier Cru vineyard in the appellation of Puligny-Montrachet, in Burgundy’s Cote de Beaune. It is nearly in the center of the Premier Crus and is the largest Premier Cru in Puligny-Montrachet. Burgundy writer Clive Coates has written that “Les Folatieres is a fullish, meaty, mineral wine with plenty of weight of fruit and good grip – a typical Puligny premier cru in fact.”

TYPE

White Wine, Chardonnay, 1er (Premier) Cru

This white variety originated in Burgundy, but is now grown around the world. Its flexibility to thrive in many regions translates to wide flavor profile in the market. Chardonnay is commonly used in making Champagne and sparkling wines.
