RATINGS

96James Suckling

Dried strawberries and cherries with some bark and pine-needle notes. Black tea leaf and lavender... Full-bodied with chewy tannins, but they are fine grained and very pretty. Lots of black pepper.

95The Wine Advocate

...expressive, floral and open, beautifully textured with the granite fingerprint. Beautiful.

94Vinous / IWC

Expansive red fruit liqueur, cherry pie, licorice and potpourri aromas are complemented by exotic spice and smoky mineral flourishes. Broad and fleshy on the palate, offering deeply concentrated raspberry, boysenberry and bitter cherry flavors, along with a sweetening cola nuance. Slowly firms up with air and finishes with outstanding clarity, even tannins and excellent, mineral-driven persistence.

PRODUCER

Comando G.

Comando G was founded by friends Daniel Jimenez-Landi and Fernando Garcia, who met while studying at the University of Madrid. The vineyard stretches 10 hectares and is organically and biodynamically farmed. Vines range in age from 50 - 80 years old and are planted in granite, slate, and quartz dominant soils. Fruit is always harvested by hand and each bottling is single-vineyard, as they seek to bring out the unique nuances from each of their plots. Bid on Comando G wines in auction today!

TYPE

Red Wine, Grenache

One of the most popular red varieties planted, it ripens late and prefers hot dry climates. It probably originated in Spain, where it is still widely grown. Grenache is best known for its use in Southern Rhone wines, including those of Chateauneuf-du-Pape.
