RATINGS

93-95The Wine Advocate

...notions of lemongrass, freshly chopped ginger and lemon tart with a core of fresh pineapples, white peaches and aniseed. The palate is rich, sultry and exotic with loads of spices and tropical fruit and an electric backbone of acid, finishing very long.

93-94James Suckling

A big white with very dense dried apples and peaches. Dried pineapple, too. Full-bodied, rich and flavorful.

92Wine Spectator

Ripe and juicy in feel, with friendly apricot, quince and orange flavors, backed by subtle bitter almond and ginger cream accents on the finish.

90Vinous / IWC

...bright lemon thyme, mango and honeysuckle bouquet that is well defined and fresh...vibrant palate is almost Loire-like in style, with mango, Conference pear and a light saline note on the finish.

90-92Jeb Dunnuck

...good freshness and purity as well as some tropical hints in its tart peach, pineapple, and crushed citrus aromas and flavors. It's beautifully balanced and has a fresh, clean, crisp style...

17Jancis Robinson

Complex and rich on the nose, there's oak's cedary spice but also an impressive depth of fruit, citrus and ripe pear... Sour grapefruit on the palate brings freshness. Longer than it is deep but harmonious. Spicy and quite tannic on the finish and that very slight tannic friction increases the freshness overall.

REGION

France, Bordeaux, Pauillac

Pauillac is Bordeaux’s most famous appellation, thanks to the fact that it is home to three of the region’s fabled first-growth châteaux, Lafite-Rothschild, Mouton-Rothschild and Latour. Perched on the left bank of the Gironde River north of the city of Bordeaux, Pauillac is centered around the commune of Pauillac and includes about 3,000 acres of vineyards. The Bordeaux classification of 1855 named 18 classified growths, including the three above mentioned First Growths. Cabernet Sauvignon is the principal grape grown, followed by Merlot. The soil is mostly sandy gravel mixed with marl and iron. Robert M. Parker Jr. has written that “the textbook Pauillac would tend to have a rich, full-bodied texture, a distinctive bouquet of black currants, licorice and cedary scents, and excellent aging potential.”
