RATINGS

98Jeb Dunnuck

...has lots of Bien Nacido character (although there’s plenty of The Third Twin and Cumulus Vineyard fruit in the blend) in its olive, marine, bloody meat, and violet-laced aromas and flavors. Deep, full-bodied, beautifully concentrated and, as with the Grenache, flawlessly balanced, it stays tight and compact on the palate...

95Vinous / IWC

...outrageously beautiful. Fresh, vibrant and wonderfully expressive, the Syrah manages to be both incredibly deep and also refined. The purity here is just striking. Absolutely nothing is out of place. Today, the Syrah is quite primary, so readers should plan on cellaring it for at least a few years to allow its full aromatic breadth to develop. Even in the early going, though, the 2017 is fabulous. Dollops of Grenache, Mourvèdre and Roussanne round off this stunning wine.

93-95The Wine Advocate

...nose opens with beautiful blackberry preserves, chocolate-covered cherries, boysenberries and preserved plums notions with an undercurrent of lilacs, lavender, orange blossom and smoked meats plus a waft of wild sage. Full-bodied, super concentrated and with a satiny texture, it possesses seamless freshness and is stacked with layers, finishing with great length and depth. Just 100 cases will be made.

TYPE

Red Wine, Syrah (Shiraz)

This grape is grown in milder climates and produces a medium-to full-bodied wine. It is also known as Shiraz, but should not be confused with Petit Sirah, which was developed by crossing Syrah with Peloursin.
