(The Hedonist's Gazette, Robert Parker) A perfect wine, it was totally perfumed, unctuously-textured, and full-bodied, with exquisite sweet fruit, richness, and depth. This magnificent example far eclipsed any other bottle I have ever had.
...sweet, sift, perfectly ripe and right... in the last decade its sweetness reiterated, also its perfect harmony... its many layered, almost exotic bouquet growing even richer in the glass.
...rich, suave and dense in the mouth, with voluptuous red cherry, raspberry, mineral and cocoa flavors complicated by tobacco and flinty nuances... extremely refined... impeccable balance and breed... very Cheval Blanc.
Fantastic, a beautiful expression of this rich, ripe vintage, velvety with plum, prune and meaty flavors, balanced and long.
I have consistently mistaken this wine for a great Graves in tastings where it has appeared. Opaque dark ruby/garnet with a rust-colored edge, this wine has a big, full-blown bouquet of burnt tobacco, and earthy, gravelly scents.
