RATINGS

97Jeb Dunnuck

...fragrant and layered with lemon verbena, toasted brioche, and white peach. It has detail and definition in its structure, with refreshing acidity and a stony, lifted finish.

96The Wine Advocate

...pretty scents of baked apples, beeswax, roasted almonds and toast...medium-bodied palate has a satiny texture and layered, savory flavors balanced by refreshing acidity, and it finishes long and flavorful.

94Wine Spectator

Impressive, with ripe mango, dried pineapple and tangerine flavors that are intense, focused and juicy. Details of lemongrass, cardamom and ginger linger on the long, expressive finish, with a supple frame adding an air of elegance.

94Vinous / IWC

...gorgeous wine. Deep, rich and phenolic, this potent Chardonnay has a ton to offer...very beautiful and distinctive wine that is just starting to open.

16.5Jancis Robinson

Intriguing, subtle aromas with an attractive, reductive edge allied with classy oak notes on the nose. Rounded, fleshy palate with apple acidity and creamy, lees-aged characters. Distinguished and complex.

REGION

United States, California, Sonoma County, Fort Ross-Seaview

Sonoma County is not an AVA, but it is a commonly used informal designation for wines made outside of more specific AVAs within Sonoma, which is a large wine producing region just west of Napa Valley. Though Sonoma is often overshadowed by its glamorous neighbor Napa Valley, it has a long history of wine production. The area specialized in jug wine until the mid-20th century, when Sonoma producers took a cue from Napa and started improving quality. Unlike Napa, where Cabernet Sauvignon is king, Sonoma specialized in Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Zinfandel, though excellent Cabs are produced too. There are at present 16 AVAs within Sonoma County, and, like much of the West Coast of the United States, new AVAs are created in Sonoma County with regularity. Some Sonoma appellations, such as the Russian River Valley, are renowned for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

TYPE

White Wine, Chardonnay

This white variety originated in Burgundy, but is now grown around the world. Its flexibility to thrive in many regions translates to wide flavor profile in the market. Chardonnay is commonly used in making Champagne and sparkling wines.
