Produttori del Barbaresco

Produttori del Barbaresco is a cooperative of 56 members in Barbaresco, in Italy’s Piedmont region. It was founded in 1958 when the local priest revived the idea of a growers’ cooperative – which had existed in the area before WWII – as a way for local Nebbiolo growers to survive economically. Today the cooperative has more than 250 acres of vineyards. Each family vineyard grows its own grapes then the Produttori winery produces a Barbaresco D.O.C.G and a Nebbiolo Langhe. In excellent vintages single vineyard Barbarescos are also produced. Nearly 500,000 cases are produced at the winery each year. The winery’s Barbarescos nearly always earn 3 Bicchieri, the highest rating, from Italy’s Gambero Rosso wine journal, which notes that “the superb array of Barbarescos produced…offers a real insight into the essence of Langhe.”
