Rene Engel was a 21-acre domaine in Burgundy’s Cote de Nuits. It was highly regarded by wine writers and collectors, who regarded it as iconic. However, in 2005 the estate was sold, and the label no longer exists. Rene Engel wines remain legendary.
Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey is the eldest son of Marc Colin, who 40 years ago started the domaine that would become Marc Colin et Fils. In 2006 Pierre-Yves struck out on his own and today makes highly regarded, mostly white, Burgundies.
Domaine Armand Rousseau was founded in the early 20th century by Armand Rousseau. Today his family still runs the estate. Burgundy expert Clive Coates calls the domaine’s wines “vigorous and very classy… this is superb winemaking…”
