Some collectors say Domaine Ramonet is unequivocally the world’s finest producer of Chardonnay. The domain was founded by Pierre Ramonet in the 1930s and his grandsons Noel and Jean-Claude run it today. Its Grand Cru and Premier Crus are legendary.
Unlike many Rhone Valley producers, Château Beaucastel grows all 13 of the grapes permitted in the appellation. The estate also uses an unusually high percentage of Mourvedre in its red wines – one reason they are so distinctive.
Chateau Margaux is First Growth Bordeaux and a gold standard for the appellation's wines, and it has a long history of outstanding quality. Thomas Jefferson called it his favorite wine.
