Château Smith-Haut-Lafitte takes part of its name from an 18th-century owner from Scotland named Smith. The estate is today owned by Daniel Cathiard, a former French Olympic skier, and its wines are known for their elegance.
Chateau Monbousquet is a Grand Cru Classe A wine of St.-Emilion. The ancient estate was purchased and upgraded by Gerard Perse in 1993 to become “one of Bordeaux’s most exotic offerings.”
Mouton Rothschild is the only chateau to be moved from the Second to First Growth classification. It is also known for its labels of commissioned art from Dali, Miro, Picasso and Warhol, among others.
