Château Smith-Haut-Lafitte takes part of its name from an 18th-century owner from Scotland named Smith. The estate is today owned by Daniel Cathiard, a former French Olympic skier, and its wines are known for their elegance.
Founded in 1898 in Chateauneuf-du-Pape in the Rhone Valley, the domaine was named for a nearby early 19th-century telegraph relay tower. Still run by the same family, Vieux Telegraphe is one of the appellation’s most legendary estates.
Hundred Acre is owned by Jayson Woodbridge, a winemaker who has been defying conventional winemaking wisdom for years. He founded Hundred Acre wineries in California and Australia, and makes palate-pleasing, single-vineyard wines in both places.
