Nestled in Pomerol, Château Rouget was once owned by the region’s mayor. Today the Labruyère family of Beaujolais owns it and employs celebrated consulting winemaker Michael Rolland to produce what reviewers call “rich and interesting” wines.
Mommessin traces its history to 1865, when Jean-Marie Mommessin purchased outbuildings of a former abbey and began business as a negociant. Today the estate is known for its Gamay and for making Beaujolais vinified in the Burgundian style.
Screaming Eagle was the original Cult Cab having started the phenomenon in the 1990s. Today the estate also produces sought-after, limited amounts of Sauvignon Blanc and a second label, Second Flight.
