Staatliche Weinbaudomane Trier in the Mosel Valley was founded in 1895 by the Prussian president of Trier, and it is still owned by the German government. The winery’s name literally translates to the “State’s Winery in Trier.” The estate owns 75 acres of vineyards with about 80% of the land planted to Riesling. Along with Riesling, the estate makes a few wines from the Auxerrois, Weissburgunder and Grauburgunder grapes.
