Quinta do Infantado is in the Cima Corgo area of Douro. It was founded in 1816 by an heir to the Portuguese throne, hence the name “Infantado” derived from “infante,” which is Portuguese for “prince.” For the last century it has been owned by the Roseira family and is today run by Joao Roseira and his sister-in-law Catherine. All the 25-acre of estate vineyards are classified as “class A,” which is the top tier of Douro vineyard classifications.
