Meteor Vineyard in Coombsville, in southeast Napa Valley, was established in 1998 when Barry and Tracy Schuler bought property for the estate. Barry Schuler is a former CEO and Chairman of AOL and is an internet entrepreneur. Bill and Dawnine Dyer joined the enterprise as winemakers, and both have extensive backgrounds in winemaking in Napa Valley and elsewhere. The 2005 vintage was the first commercial release. The estate makes Cabernet Sauvignon in limited amounts. Coombsville became California’s 16th AVA several years ago. Meteor wines have been well reviewed, often earning scores in the low to mid-90s.
