Louis Barruol has vineyards in the appellations of Cote Rotie, Crozes-Hermitage and Hermitage, in the Northern Rhone Valley. Louis Barruol himself is the 14th generation of a family of Rhone Valley winemakers. Barruol’s cellars are part of a site that was once a Roman Villa, and besides making his own wines Barruol also has a small negociant enterprise underway. He works with other regional growers of Serine, an older version of the Syrah grape. He also works with California importer Kermit Lynch to blend Cote Rotie. Barruol’s vines are 30 to 50 years old.
