Jose Dhondt is a 15-acre grower/producer enterprise based in Oger. The vineyards are divided between the Cote des Blancs and the Sezannes regions. The Dhondt family arrived in Champagne from Belgium in 1924 and grew grapes for large producers. In 1974 Jose Dhondt started bottling under the family’s name. The estate makes Blanc de Blanc Brut and a Rose de Saignee Brut. Jose Dhondt Champagnes have frequently earned ratings in the lower 90s from international reviewers. The New York Times in 2011 included the Jose Dhondt NV Blanc de Blanc Brut in a tasting of Champagne from smaller producers and gave it 2.5 stars out of a possible 3 stars.
