Gravner

Gravner is a 45-acre estate in Friuli, in northeastern Italy. It is owned and run by Josko Gravner, who also makes the wine. The estate makes red and white wines, including two blends. Berg Gravner is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio and Riesling Italico. Rosso Gravner is Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Gravner also makes red Ribolla and Runjo, which is Merlot. The production process is notable for Gravner’s use of large clay amphorae, or vessels, for the grapes’ first six months of maceration. Gravner’s wines are highly respected by wine writers and Gambero Rosso, Italy’s leading wine journal, nearly always awards the estate’s wines three glasses, which is the highest rating.
