Freiherr Heyl Zu Herrnsheim

Freiherr Heyl Zu Herrnsheim dates to the 16th century, when a group of monks from Worms bought vineyards in Nierstein and began working them. The estate was bought and sold several times until the 1980s, when owner Peter von Weymarn earned the estate an outstanding reputation for Rieslings on the Monpollage Brudersberg. Weymarn also pioneered organic viticulture in the area, and his wines frequently won awards not only for their excellence but for their extreme attention to organic winemaking. Since 2006 the estate has been owned by Detlev Meyer and continues to make primarily Riesling, usually with the traditional label depicting a monk.
