Founded in 1751 in Portugal's Duoro region, Ferreira is among the only Port producers to originate and remain in the hands of Portuguese ownership. The Ferreira brand was purchased in 1980 by Sogrape from the founding family along with many of the many of the estate vineyards that traditionally provide the grapes for the Ferreira Ports. It produces a number of different wines today, while being the source for vintage ports that date back decades and even centuries.
