Clos de l'Oratoire Des Papes

Clos de L’Oratoire des Papes was started in 1880 when Edouard Amouroux married into a family who owned a couple of prime parcels of Syrah vineyards, which were named after a small, ancient stone chapel near the vineyards. By the 1920s the family was bottling their own Chateauneuf-du-Pape and the wines still display charming label designed in the 1920s. Today the 62-acre estate produces red and white Chateauneuf-du-Pape and a special red cuvee, called Les Choregies du Clos do L’Oratoire des Papes, produced only in exceptional years. Clos d L’Oratoire is today owned by La Maison Ogier, a large Rhone Valley negociant and producer.
