Château Bernadotte

Château Bernadotte is in the commune of Saint Sauveur. It takes its name from its early 19th century owner, Jean Bernadotte, who had a long and distinguished career in the French Military under Napoleon I. In an odd historical twist, Bernadotte later became King of Sweden when the Swedish King died without an heir and the Swedish government decided to put a strong military leader on the throne. In 2007 Château Bernadotte was acquired by Louis Roederer Champagne House. Today the 90-acre estate produces about 120,000 bottles annually. The second label is Château Fournas Bernadotte.
