Backstage was founded in 2010 with the goal of making premium, single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. The winemaker is Angelo Pera, who is also managing director and co-winemaker at Mountain View in San Rafael. Grapes for Backstage wines comes from small vineyards of one- to five-acres on Howell Mountain, in Rutherford and in Oakville. The estate makes an extremely small quantity of wine, which his generally available only through the estate’s mailing list.
