Clos du Grand Carquelin is a vineyard in Moulin-a-Vent, which makes it one of the more distinctive cru vineyards in Beaujolais. Of the 10 crus of Beaujolais, Moulin-a-Vent and Morgon are considered to have the finest terroirs. Moulin-a-Vent vineyards are rich in iron and magnesium. Clos du Grand Carquelin are especially rocky, which creates complex wines.
