RATINGS

91Stephen Tanzer

Silky and vinous, with well-integrated acids and lovely balance. Suave, fresh, spicy and very long, with subtle finishing flavor and ripe, harmonious tannins.

PRODUCER

Albert Morot

Albert Morot is a 20-acre domaine in Beaune. It was founded by the Morot family as a negociant in 1820 but also became a producer in 1890 with the purchase of vineyards. Today the estate is run by Geoffroy Choppin de Janvry, who inherited it from his uncle. The domaine has Premier Crus in Beaune and Savigny-les-Beaune.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Beaune, Beaune, Les Bressandes

Les Bressandes is a 50-acre Premier Cru vineyard on the northwestern edge the Beaune appellation, in Burgundy’s Cote de Beaune. Les Bressandes is near the top of the slope. Clive Coates has written that wine from Les Bressandes and neighboring vineyards “have an extra roundness, richness and style” compared with some slightly more northern Beaune Premier Crus.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, 1er (Premier) Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
