The 1969 Krug Collection, from magnum, was all oysters, seashells and minerality. It was a fabulous bottle.
White truffles on the nose, savoury. Makes me think of Angelo Gaja (Krug’s distributor in Italy, I believe.) Quite delicate again but heavier than the 1973. Long.
Muscular, ripe and powerful,evoking dried fruit in the bouquet, changing to honey, soya and mushroom in the mouth. Richly textured, with plenty of underlying structure.
Low-keyed but gently laced, slightly minerally bouquet with whiff of fresh walnuts; dry...good flavour, length and the '69 trait, acidity...
