Light to medium-bodied, floral, and mineral-flavored, it possesses outstanding focus, delineation, and concentration. Berries, both white and red, can be discerned in its refreshingly bright and pure finish.
Jean Boillot & Fils is a 30-acre domaine in Volnay. It is run by Henri Boillot, son of Jean and brother of Jean-Marc of Pommard. The estate is almost entirely Premier Crus. The Premier Cru parcels are in Volnay, Beaune, Savigny-les-Beaune, Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet, which includes the monopole Clos de la Mouchere. Clive Coates calls it an “impressive estate…the results are fine.”
Les Pucelles a 12.3-acre Premier Cru vineyard in the Puligny-Montrachet appellation in Burgundy’s Cote de Beaune. It is just north of Batard-Montrachet. Clive Coates has written that Les Pucelles is “frequently is a very delicious wine, all silk, flowers and fragrance.”
This white variety originated in Burgundy, but is now grown around the world. Its flexibility to thrive in many regions translates to wide flavor profile in the market. Chardonnay is commonly used in making Champagne and sparkling wines.
