RATINGS

92The Wine Advocate

..Boyer-Martenot's 1997 Reserve bottling is first rate. A stone and gravel packed nose is followed by a tangy, highly-focused, and extremely rich flavor profile. Layer upon layer of minerals, rocks, and crisp pears can be found...

92Stephen Tanzer

Pure, floral aromas of lemon, lime, tangerine and minerals. Juicy and nicely delineated, with a subtle component of oak spice. Shows good acidity and grip for the vintage. Finishes with excellent length...

PRODUCER

Domaine Boyer-Martenot

Domaine Boyer-Martenot is a 25-acre estate based in Meursault, in Burgundy’s Cote de Beaune. Now run by the third and fourth generations of the founding family, the estate is known for its Premier Cru Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet, as well as other Chardonnays. Its wines are consistently praised by reviewers.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Beaune, Meursault, Les Perrieres

Les Perrieres is 34-acre Premier Cru vineyard in Meursault, in Burgundy’s Cote de Beaune. The vineyard includes several sub parcels. They are the 2.4-acre monopole Clos des Perrieres, which belongs to Domaine Albert Grivault, and Les Perrieres Dessous. Because Les Perrieres is in southern Meursault next to Puligny, the Les Perrieres Meursaults are considered to have more minerality than other Meursaults. Burgundy writer Clive Coates has noted that “Perrieres is perhaps the most elegant and persistent of the premier crus. At its best, it is positively brilliant…” Since Meursault lacks a Grand Cru, Meursault’s reputation for excellence is based on the Premier Crus, particularly the whites.

TYPE

White Wine, Chardonnay, 1er (Premier) Cru

This white variety originated in Burgundy, but is now grown around the world. Its flexibility to thrive in many regions translates to wide flavor profile in the market. Chardonnay is commonly used in making Champagne and sparkling wines.
