A substantial wine with all the component parts evolving simultaneously. Still deep and velvety though wiht a fully mature rim; a classic cedary nose that opened up deliciously; some ripe sweentess, fairly but not too full-bodied...
...quite extraordinary purity & linearity. There was so much pure fruit that it tasted almost Burgundian to me. Very gorgeous with lots of power & refreshing rather than aggressive acidity... wonderful proof of just how great 1959 was.
Aromas of ceps and other mushrooms with light currants and berries. Medium- to full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a cedar and light tobacco aftertaste. Soft and silky. Lovely old wine to enjoy and reflect on.
Rustic, tannic personality..enormous weight, richness, and distinctively old style.
