This has a very refined feel for a Sagrantino with equal measures of currants, red berries and oak. Medium-to full-bodied with intense fruit and lightly chewy, polished tannins that do very little to impede the progress of the fruit and minerals through the long finish.
High toned and floral on the nose, this is immediately dense and grippy on the palate, with tense tannins wrapped tightly around the subtle, but promising range of wild strawberry and black raspberry fruit, black licorice, slate and rosemary flavors.
...releases aromas of toasted oak, scorched forest floor, leather and camphor...bracing, concentrated palate offers steeped prune, licorice, bitter nut and candied notes, but it's dominated by scorching alcohol and a backbone of grippy, close-grained tannins.
