Clos du Bois is in Geyserville. It was founded in the early 1970s by businessman Frank Woods and a group of investors who purchased vineyards. The debut commercial wines were the 1974 Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and in 1988 the estate was acquired by Wine Alliance, a subsidiary of Hiram Walker. Today Clos du Bois is owned by Constellation Brands, the world’s largest wine, beer and spirits conglomerate. Clos du Bois owns 800 acres in several appellations and makes a large portfolio of wines.
This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
