RATINGS

96Jeb Dunnuck

More lifted, perfumed, and floral, with beautiful mulberry, strawberry, and flowery incense notes...medium to full-bodied and has a pure, elegant mouthfeel, fine-grained, slightly savory tannins, and a great finish.

94Wine Enthusiast

Beautiful aromas of red cherries and cinnamon give way to sunny black cherries, dark plums and cloves on the palate of this smooth, broad and delicious wine. Light tannins and light acidity keep it appetizing despite its ripeness.

93The Wine Advocate

...boasts charming aromas of rose petals, cherries and plums...medium to full-bodied effort is quite expansive and rich, with a seamless, silky-velvety texture and long finish.

93Wine Spectator

Leads with flashy boysenberry and mulberry fruit notes, but there are violet and iris hints and a dash of potpourri flickering through the finish, giving this floral lift and range as well. Ends with a lightly toasty frame, but shows ample fruit and drive for balance.

91James Suckling

A fresh and vivid pinot with ripe cherries, strawberries, hints of walnut, clove and dried flowers. Medium-bodied with juicy tannins and a vibrant, red-fruited mid-palate. Flavorful finish with hints of blue flowers.

REGION

United States, California, Napa Valley, Carneros

Carneros AVA, also known as Los Carneros, is at the southern end of the Napa and Sonoma Valleys at the top of the San Francisco Bay. The 8,000 vineyard acres are mostly planted to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, both of which thrive in the district’s cool, marine climate. Carneros became an AVA in 1983 and it has attracted foreign wine companies along with local producers. It has been especially appealing to European producers of sparkling wines including the giant Spanish cava producers Codorniu and Frexinet, and the French Champagne house Taittinger. Codorniu in Carneros is called Artesa, and Frexinet’s Carneros brand is Gloria Ferrer. Taittinger calls its Carneros winery Domaine Carneros. The European producers also make still wines in Carneros.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
