RATINGS

94+ The Wine Advocate

...has a compelling perfume that combines soaring pomegranate and violet aromas with wafts of earth, damp leaves and moss reminiscent of an Oregon forest...palate is powerful yet elegant with expansive, perfumed flavors. It’s structured by chalky tannins and vibrant acidity and has a long, bitters-laced finish.

94Wine Enthusiast

Brambleberries hold aromatic court, joined by rose petals and lavender. The wine's ripe cherry and Assam tea flavors are wrapped in a garrigue ball of rosemary and lavender. Zippy acidity meets silky tannins.

92James Suckling

Fresh cherries and cranberries with red spices, crushed pink peppercorns and wet stone on the nose. Medium-bodied, juicy and agile on the palate with crunchy tannins and some citrusy undertones.

17+ Jancis Robinson

Lovely tannic sandiness that has wonderful texture that is cleansed by the refreshing acidic spine. Ripe fruit, but the whole-bunch note really anchors this in a more savoury finish.

REGION

United States, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Yamhill-Carlton

It has 1,200 vineyard acres and was awarded AVA status in 2004. The region grows Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Dolcetto, Muscat, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris. Ken Wright Cellars, Elk Cove Vineyards and WillaKenzie Estate are among the district’s best-known producers. All focus on Pinot Noir.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
