PRODUCER

Deerfield Ranch

Deerfield Ranch Winery is in Kenwood, in Sonoma Valley. It was founded by Robert Rex and his wife. Rex has been making wine since the 1970s and has also worked as a consulting winemaker. The estate produces about 15,000 cases a year made from grapes sourced from 26 vineyards in Sonoma County. Deerfield makes a broad portfolio of wines, from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Meritage blends, to Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, and dessert wines.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
