RATINGS

93Wine Spectator

Gorgeous sweet blackberry and raspberry fruit coat the mouth before the stern tannins take over. This is bright and complex, with mineral and spice notes adding depth. Has a long, blackberry-laced aftertaste.

91+ Stephen Tanzer

Black fruits, licorice and dark chocolate lifted by menthol and peppermint. Medicinal and clenched; very difficult to taste now but this extremely primary wine boasts terrific definition and a violety lift on the back...

91Burghound.com

...rich, fresh and again, notably sweet earth and spice-infused flavors that are wonderfully powerful yet this remains balanced, poised and graceful from stem to stern. Outstanding quality here that really coats the palate...

PRODUCER

Christophe Perrot-Minot

Domaine Christophe Perrot-Minot dates its history to the mid-19th century, when Christophe Perrot-Minot’s great grandparents founded the estate. Today the domaine owns or has long-term leases on 26 acres of vineyards in and around Morey-Saint-Denis, in Burgundy. Since taking over the domaine from his father in 1995, Christophe has enlarged the holdings, increased production and, according to many reviewers, improved the quality of the wines. Robert M. Parker Jr. calls Christophe Perrot-Minot “one of Burgundy’s finest winemakers.” The estate produces Grand Crus, Premiers Crus and Villages wines.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Nuits, Nuits-St.-Georges, La Richemone

La Richemone is a 5-acre Premier Cru vineyard vineyard in the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation, in Burgundy’s Cote-de-Nuits. It is near the northern boundary of Nuits-Saints-Georges, at an average elevation of 270 meters. The soil is limestone, clay and sand. Some wine writers note that the wines from these northern Nuits-Saint-Georges vineyards have a hint of Vosne about them, since they are so close to the Vosne-Romanee appellation. Because there are no Grand Cru vineyards in Nuits-Saints-Georges, the appellation’s considerable reputation rests on its excellent Premier Crus.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, 1er (Premier) Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
