RATINGS

94Vinous / IWC

...a brilliant, chiseled wine. Apricot, white flowers, marzipan and light tropical notes are finely sketched. Vibrant saline tones extend the finish effortlessly. I especially admire the translucent finesse and overall nuance here.

93Wine Spectator

...flavors of marmalade, peach and grilled pineapple drizzled with wildflower honey. Offers beautiful orange blossom aromatics, plus a hint of tarragon and a ginger note on the long, expressive finish.

93Wine Enthusiast

This full-bodied and generous wine is loaded with ripe pears and apples, while lemony acidity gives it an appetizing tang. Well balanced and flavorful, it's greatly appealing with concentrated fruit and light oak spices.

PRODUCER

Three Sticks

Three Sticks is named for the Roman numeral three, and it is a reference to the name of the founder, Bill Price III. Price had a career in private equity which eventually led him and business partners to invest in California wine estates. Price also started buying prime vineyards in the region and in 2007 left his career in investment to devote himself full time to wine ventures. Three Sticks was launched in 2002. Based in an historic, 19th-century adobe home in downtown Sonoma, Three Sticks owns vineyards in the Sonoma Coast, Sonoma Mountain, Sonoma Valley, Russian River Valley and Carneros appellations. Bob Cabral became Three Sticks winemaker in 2015 after a celebrated career making wines at numerous Sonoma County estates, including William Selyem. In 2011 Wine Enthusiast named him Winemaker of the Year after being awarded the journal’s first 100 pt North American Pinot Noir. Three Sticks produces Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

REGION

United States, California, Sonoma, Sonoma Coast

Sonoma Coast AVA runs from San Pablo Bay in the south to Mendocino County in the north. It includes 7,000 vineyard acres and earned AVA status in 1987. Its proximity to the Pacific Ocean means it gets double the rainfall of nearby inland appellations and the ocean gives the appellation a relatively cool climate. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir can thrive in these conditions, and there are numerous producers making critically acclaimed Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

TYPE

White Wine, Chardonnay

This white variety originated in Burgundy, but is now grown around the world. Its flexibility to thrive in many regions translates to wide flavor profile in the market. Chardonnay is commonly used in making Champagne and sparkling wines.
