RATINGS

99James Suckling

...huge wine with wonderful, ripe and dry fruit that coats the tannins and shows amazing balance between power and focus. Extremely long and beautiful. Love this.

97Jeb Dunnuck

...high-toned notes of cassis and blueberry fruits intermixed with lavender, violets, flowery incense, and a vibrant sense of minerality. Full-bodied, upfront, and flamboyant...

96The Wine Advocate

...wonderfully perfumed, offering notions of candied violets, Morello cherries, rose hip tea and fragrant earth with a crème de cassis and blueberry compote core plus a waft of bay leaves. The palate is full, rich and opulent with loads of black and blue fruit layers and a firm, grainy texture, finishing long and lively.

96Vinous / IWC

Bright, powerful and explosive, the 2016 oozes class and personality. Graphite, crushed rocks, lavender, incense and blackberry jam abound in this spectacularly ripe, towering Cabernet Sauvignon.

96Wine Enthusiast

... spectacular wine...supple...well integrated tannins...mineral-thread of crushed rock. The midpalate unleashes dense, inky layers of brooding blackberry, cherry, iron and flint, with a lasting richness and structure...

REGION

United States, California, Napa Valley, St. Helena, Las Piedras Vineyard

Las Piedras was first planted in the mid-19th century, and within a few years its grapes were being used to make wine by Henry Amstutz, one of the area’s first important winemakers. The 25-acre vineyard in St. Helena was acquired by Beckstoffer in 1983. Today it is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon. Beckstoffer Vineyards owns and farms more than 3,600 acres of highly prestigious grape growing vineyards in Napa Valley, Mendocino County and the Red Hills of Lake County. A senior executive with Heublein in the 1960s, Andy Beckstoffer is credited with steering Napa Valley vintners towards improving farming and the quality of the grapes used for wine. Grapes from any Beckstoffer vineyards are considered among the finest available in California.

TYPE

Red Wine, Cabernet Sauvignon

One of the most widely grown grape varieties, it can be found in nearly every wine growing region. A cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. It’s a hardy vine that produces a full-bodied wine with high tannins and great aging potential.
