RATINGS

94The Wine Advocate

...inviting nose of dried cranberry, warm cherry, smoke, pipe tobacco, autumn leaves and floral hints. Light to medium-bodied, it's silky but supported by very fine, grainy tannins, turning minerally on the finish.

93Vinous / IWC

Red fruit, pomegranate, rose petal, lavender, mint and spice are some of the notes that race out of the glass.

92Wine Enthusiast

Crushed rock and rose petal greet the palate with nuanced complexity in this light-bodied, classically made wine from the great site. Rhubarb, blood orange and a backbone of tannin intermingle with ease around fresh acidity and a lasting tease of black tea.

90Wine Spectator

Focused flavors of currant, cherry and raspberry are supported by fresh acidity and medium-grained tannins. Asian spice and sandalwood details show on the finish, with savory touches.

REGION

United States, California, Sonoma, Sonoma Coast

Sonoma Coast AVA runs from San Pablo Bay in the south to Mendocino County in the north. It includes 7,000 vineyard acres and earned AVA status in 1987. Its proximity to the Pacific Ocean means it gets double the rainfall of nearby inland appellations and the ocean gives the appellation a relatively cool climate. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir can thrive in these conditions, and there are numerous producers making critically acclaimed Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
