RATINGS

94Jeb Dunnuck

...raspberry fruit, anise, and fresh pine. Medium-bodied, with more concentration while remaining pure, it has ripe tannins and a fantastic finish.

93Wine Spectator

Brooding and simmering with tension, this red slowly unfolds to cherry and blueberry flavors laced with spiced tea and hints of cedar. Finishes with a bit of tannins.

93Vinous / IWC

...opens with a spicy burst of clove and ginger before giving way to rose petals and dried black cherries. Texturally ripe red and blue fruits sweep across the palate, motivated by zesty acidity...finishes long and classically dry, leaving a floral resonance that slowly fades.

93James Suckling

...aromas of pine needles, red plums, anise, persimmons and freshly turned earth. Delicious interplay of spice and earthiness with tight-knit tannins and a medium body. Well structured.

92Decanter Magazine (points)

Funky earthen aromatics give way to rose petals, seaspray and green tea leaves... The palate is amply structured...marked by flavours of bay leaf, black tea, ripe raspberry, baking chocolate and blood orange pulp.

91Wine Enthusiast

Briary raspberries and tart cherries...aromatic...vanilla and allspice. Flavors like pie cherries and orange pekoe tea are backed brawny tannins and restrained acidity. Medium-bodied, with a leathery texture.

16Jancis Robinson

Earthy on the nose with aromas of charcuterie, forest floor, sarsaparilla and subtle spice-tinged red plum and red cherry...fine tannins are complimented by juicy acidity and layers of savoury complexity and cola on the finish.

REGION

United States, Oregon, Willamette Valley

Willamette Valley AVA was established in 1983, and it is the oldest appellation in Oregon. Oregon’s modern wine industry began in the Willamette Valley in the 1960s when artists, vagabond winemakers, and U.C. Davis oenology graduates looking for new territory started their own, small, off-the-grid wineries. The appellation is the state’s largest, and it extends 175 miles from Columbia River on the Washington/Oregon border to just south of Eugene, near central Oregon. The Willamette River runs through the area, helping to give the appellation a mild year-round climate. There are six smaller sub-appellations within this AVA, but altogether the Willamette Valley has the largest concentration of wineries in Oregon, as well as the majority of the state’s most famous producers. Pinot Noir is king here, followed by Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Riesling. To most admirers of Oregon Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley offers the most distinctive wine choices in the state.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
