RATINGS

100Jeb Dunnuck

...kaleidoscope-like bouquet of kirsch liqueur, ripe strawberries, spring flowers, incense, and ground pepper...carries to a full-bodied, multi-dimensional, layered, hedonistic beauty with velvety tannins, a powerful yet somehow still fresh and elegant mouthfeel, and a blockbuster of a finish.

97Robert M. Parker Jr.

...blueberry, baked plum, cherry fruit and slowly opening accents of cardamom, lilac and olive. The full-bodied palate features highly concentrated, enveloping fruit, abundant yet pixelated tannins and just enough freshness to highlight alluring floral and spice tones on the long finish.

93Vinous / IWC

Blackberry jam, chocolate, licorice, new leather, menthol and cloves are all amplified in this heady, explosive Grenache.

PRODUCER

Andremily

Andremily Winery is a new venture by Jim Binn, a former cellar master at Sine Qua Non. Binn established his Santa Barbara area winery in 2011 and named it for his two children, Andrew and Emily. Binn leases specific acreage within the prestigious White Hawk and Larner Vineyards in Santa Barbara County, and had his first harvest in 2012. Only 250 cases of Syrah were made and it was available primarily through mailing list. Binn focuses on Rhone varietals and has earned a reputation for his winemaking skills, having honed his skills working for Manfred Krankl, the rock star-style proprietor/winemaker at SQN, starting in 1996.

TYPE

Red Wine, Grenache

One of the most popular red varieties planted, it ripens late and prefers hot dry climates. It probably originated in Spain, where it is still widely grown. Grenache is best known for its use in Southern Rhone wines, including those of Chateauneuf-du-Pape.
