RATINGS

93+ Vinous / IWC

Opulent aromas of wild plum, cinnamon and honeyed botrytis. The ripe tropical fruit flavors are animated by a discreet but persistent acidity that provides freshness on the palate. With a light touch and supple texture, the finish nonetheless displays rich, spicy character.

91Wine Enthusiast

Complex, intense nose of fresh honeysuckle, tangerines, marmalade, spice, dried apricots, golden raisins and an earthy minerality abound. Delightfully rich and sweet, but lively and fresh, with nicely balanced racy acidity. Generous concentration of flavor that coats the whole palate and lingers to a sweet but vibrantly juicy finish.

90The Wine Advocate

...drips over the palate with pear drops, glazed pineapple, yellow plum preserves, caramel, licorice, and vanilla. While gaudy and candied, with a slightly sticky sense in the finish and as much B.A. as Auslese in nature, it offers an undeniably impressive combination of sheer concentration and purely noble botrytis with considerable delicacy of touch.

16.5Jancis Robinson

Opulent, fresh and easy to like.

REGION

Germany, Rheinhessen

Rheinhessen is Germany’s largest “anbaugebiete,” or “quality wine region.” With 65,000 vineyard acres located along the Rhine, it is in the center of Germany’s wine industry. And, for many years, the region was known primarily for producing large amounts of bulk wine blends. In recent years, however, it has become one of the most exciting wine producing areas in Germany, thanks in large part to an energetic group of young, talented, worldly winemakers who have shaken up the region with a return to traditional, rather than industrial, winemaking methods and an emphasis on quality. The dominant grape in Rheinhessen is Muller-Thurgau, followed by Riesling, Sylvaner, Scheurebe, and several others.

TYPE

White Wine, Riesling, Auslese

This white variety originated in Germany. It’s known for its strong flowery aromas and high acidity. Please note Rieslings can have dramatic differences as the grape can be used to make dry, semi-sweet, sweet and sparkling wines.
