RATINGS

98James Suckling

...chunky...dense...tight and energetic at the same time. Lilacs and flowers. Full-bodied with chewy tannins. Mountain-fruit character.

98Jeb Dunnuck

...stunning all the way, with a vibrant, racy, focused, and salty nose of crushed lemons, crushed stone, white flowers, and green almonds. Also gorgeous on the palate...medium to full-bodied, quintessential, layered, balanced...

96+ The Wine Advocate

...smoky graphite and toast, offering crushed almonds and white blossoms with some time in the glass. The palate surprises with its depth of ripe, fragrant fruits and textural, expansive character balanced by mineral tones and bright acidity. It finishes long and lifted.

96Vinous / IWC

...magnificent. Fresh, floral and translucent...off the charts gorgeous...wonderfully elegant and so precise. White flowers, crushed rocks, sage, mint and chalk...truly special wine.

95Wine Spectator

Presents peach, fig and apricot flavors that are ripe and round, which broaden into notes of cardamom, litsea oil, lemon zest and candied ginger on the long, epic finish.

PRODUCER

Kistler

Founded in 1978 by Steve Kistler, Kistler Vineyards produces some of California’s most admired Chardonnay. Located in the Russian River Valley, Kistler’s Burgundian style Chardonnays have achieved a “Cult Chardonnay” status because of their traditional style and extraordinary, Grand Cru character. Recently Kistler Vineyards has also won accolades for its Pinot Noir, which Robert M. Parker Jr. predicts may eventually be even more profound and admired than the winery’s Chardonnays. But whether they are making Chardonnay or Pinot Noir, Kistler Vineyards’ wines are always highly rated and hard to acquire. The winery owns 210 acres, which it plants to Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah. Annual production is generally under 10,000 cases. Kistler wines are usually available only through its mailing list.

TYPE

White Wine, Chardonnay

This white variety originated in Burgundy, but is now grown around the world. Its flexibility to thrive in many regions translates to wide flavor profile in the market. Chardonnay is commonly used in making Champagne and sparkling wines.
