RATINGS

95The Wine Advocate

...scents of blackberries, blueberries, dried herbs, cracked pepper and tar. The full-bodied palate is concentrated and powerful with alluring herbal undertones, fresh acidity and a long, spicy finish.

94Wine Enthusiast

Juicy, soft and layered in blackberry, it offers great acidity and earthy undertones of mineral, while the tannins and oak are integrated and supportive.

93Jeb Dunnuck

...showed nicely, with a plush, soft, forward style as well as terrific red plum and mulled cherry fruits...medium to full-bodied and has moderate acidity, a supple, elegant texture, and a great finish, all making for a brilliant Zinfandel.

PRODUCER

Mauritson

Mauritson is in Healdsburg, California. It is owned and operated by Mauritson family, who have been farming in the area since the mid-19th century. In the mid 1990s Clay Mauritson returned from college and began working in Napa Valley wineries. He released his own debut vintage in 1998. The family owns 270 acres of vineyards and have long supplied other wine producers in the area. Today the estate produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Rose, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.

TYPE

Red Wine, Zinfandel

Zinfandel is a black-skinned grape, but 85% of the wine produced is made into a rosy “White Zinfandel.” Red Zin is far more complex and bold, while still being light-bodied. It grows in popularity as winemakers continue to experiment with new styles and blends.
