RATINGS

97Jeb Dunnuck

...wild herbs, cedar, and black raspberry on the nose. The palate is fresh with pomegranate, dried tea leaf, and orange zest and delivers fine tannins, refreshing acidity, and a long finish.

96Wine Enthusiast

This superb reserve-worthy wine dances in rose, dried herb and white-pepper aromas and flavors—a barrel-selection that comes entirely from the coastal estate. Light, balanced and elegant in style, with complexity for days, it shows a fresh landscape of acid-driven, crunchy, red fruit.

95+ The Wine Advocate

...alluring scents of pomegranate, rhubarb, orange peel, tea leaves, saline, licorice and top notes of bergamot. The medium-bodied palate is pure and intense, with layers of bitters and spices that shift with each return to the glass.

95Vinous / IWC

Deep, ample and explosive, the 2019 possesses off the charts intensity and resonance in its generous dark fruit, spice, licorice and chocolate flavors.

95James Suckling

Ripe and open with generous fruit character on the nose, suggesting plums and ripe strawberries. Some flowers, too. Full-bodied with round, ripe tannins and a chewy palate, yet it remains soft and very attractive.

18Jancis Robinson

...carries the greatest complexity and overall completeness of the 2019 portfolio – savoury qualities, hints of floral notes, a stoniness throughout, a bit of iodine, and a mineral crunch emerges with air as well.

REGION

United States, California, Sonoma, Sonoma Coast

Sonoma Coast AVA runs from San Pablo Bay in the south to Mendocino County in the north. It includes 7,000 vineyard acres and earned AVA status in 1987. Its proximity to the Pacific Ocean means it gets double the rainfall of nearby inland appellations and the ocean gives the appellation a relatively cool climate. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir can thrive in these conditions, and there are numerous producers making critically acclaimed Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
