RATINGS

96Wine Enthusiast

...a broad and lushly rich wine...with soft, rounded edges that give it appeal and accessibility across the refined palate. Firm, integrated tannins provide structure with ease, boosting well-defined flavors of black cherry, waxy plum and cedar.

95+ Jeb Dunnuck

...classic darker, herbal, black fruits...terrific notes of asphalt, tobacco, damp earth, and chocolate...medium to full-bodied, has good structure, ripe tannins, and outstanding length.

94Wine Spectator

Warm cassis, steeped plum and blackberry puree flavors meld together steadily as they move through, laced with loam and anise and carried by ample yet polished tannins. A flash of roasted apple wood gives the finish extra range while the fruit lingers.

94James Suckling

Notes of blackcurrants, ripe mirabelles, chocolate and mint. Also tar and some baking spices. Full body with a sleek, polished tannin structure, a deep core of blue fruit and a silky texture. Long, even aftertaste.

93The Wine Advocate

...cassis, baked plums and aniseed core, plus a waft of dried herbs. Medium to full-bodied...delivering elegant fruit layers with a firm, grainy texture and lively line, finishing long and lifted.

PRODUCER

Stewart

Stewart Cellars was founded in 2000 by Michael Stewart, who built a career in technology in Texas before buying property in Napa Valley. Stewart runs the estate with his wife and adult children, and the consulting winemaker is Paul Hobbs, a much-admired winemaker who founded his own winery and consults throughout the world. Grapes are sourced from some of the area’s premium vineyards, including Las Piedras, Stagecoach and Ross Station, in the Russian River Valley. Stewart makes Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Robert M. Parker Jr. has called Stewart Cellars a “small, high quality boutique producer” making “Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Russian River area as well as some exceptionally fine Cabernet Sauvignon from various vineyards in Napa.” He has rated the wines in the low to mid-90s.

REGION

United States, California, Napa Valley, Rutherford, Georges III Vineyard

Georges III Vineyard was first planted in 1895 by Napa Valley Pioneer Thomas Rutherford. In 1928 it was purchased by Beaulieu founder Georges de Latour, whose winemaker, the famous Andre Tchelistcheff, used the vineyard to make BV’s Rutherford Cabernets. The 300-acre vineyard is in Rutherford and is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon. Beckstoffer Vineyards owns and farms more than 3,600 acres of highly prestigious grape growing vineyards in Napa Valley, Mendocino County and the Red Hills of Lake County. A senior executive with Heublein in the 1960s, Andy Beckstoffer is credited with steering Napa Valley vintners towards improving farming and the quality of the grapes used for wine. Grapes from any Beckstoffer vineyards are considered among the finest available in California.

TYPE

Red Wine, Cabernet Sauvignon

One of the most widely grown grape varieties, it can be found in nearly every wine growing region. A cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. It’s a hardy vine that produces a full-bodied wine with high tannins and great aging potential.
