RATINGS

97Wine Enthusiast

Very lush and inviting on the nose...aromas of softly poached Bing cherries, dark strawberry cream, hints of slate and well integrated oak. The palate is wrapped in perfectly chiseled tannins and crisp fresh acidity, offering lush red-fruit and baking-spice flavors.

95Vinous / IWC

...deeply perfumed bouquet evokes ripe red and blue fruits, cherry pie, potpourri and exotic spices sharpened by a smoky mineral topnote. Sappy, concentrated and energetic in the mouth, offering intense, mineral- and spice-driven black raspberry, cherry cola, vanilla and rose pastille flavors that spread out steadily on the back half. Shows superb definition and finishes impressively long and smooth, with polished tannins and lingering floral and red fruit liqueur notes.

93James Suckling

This has aromas of crushed red berries, lemon zest and dried earth. Hint of walnut husk. It’s medium-bodied with soft, elegant tannins. Wonderfully fresh and juicy with some earthy undertones.

92Jeb Dunnuck

...pretty, feminine style in its pretty cherry and strawberry fruits as well as forest floor, violets, and subtle herbal undertones. Medium-bodied, seamless, and incredibly elegant on the palate, it’s another terrific wine in the lineup.

90Wine Spectator

Intense notes of pomegranate accent the dried cherry and red berry flavors, supported by zesty acidity. Juicy lift emerges midpalate, with a creamy finish that features cardamom and nutmeg accents.

United States, California, Central Coast, Edna Valley

Edna Valley became an AVA in 1982 and it includes 22,400 acres of extremely fertile land blessed with a long growing season. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are the principal grapes, though Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Albarino, Grenache, Viognier, Merlot and Petite Sirah also are grown. Spanish missionaries were growing grape vines in the Edna Valley in the 18th century, but the valley’s modern wine industry took off in the 1970s. Today there are more than 50 Edna Valley wineries.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
