RATINGS

95The Wine Advocate

Aromas of light reduction dissipate to reveal notes of crisp green orchard fruit, wheat toast, iodine and dried white flowers...medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping wine that's concentrated and incisive, its deep and layered core girdled with racy acids.

95Vinous / IWC

...neutral on the nose, sultry but not sullen, maintaining delineation and focus, with crushed stone and light smoky aromas...palate is well balanced with a salty, basalt-tinged entry. There is plenty of energy and superb acidity, leading to a vibrant, spicy, persistent finish. This fans out gloriously. Outstanding.

PRODUCER

Antoine Jobard

Domaine Antoine Jobard is a 15-acre estate in Meursault, Burgundy. Burgundy expert Clive Coates has called it “one of the great Meursault estates.” And Robert M. Parker Jr. notes that the estate “has long been known for crafting clear, complex, age-worthy Meursault.” Francois Jobard still works in the operation but the name on the bottles now is that of his son, Antoine. Known for their Meursault, they also have parcels in Puligny-Montrachet. About 3,000 cases are produced annually.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Beaune, Meursault, Les Genevrieres

Les Genevrieres is 41-acre Premier Cru vineyard in Meursault, in Burgundy’s Cote de Beaune. It is in the southern part of the appellation, and just to the north of Les Perrieres and Les Charmes. Burgundy writer Clive Coates says that “Genevrieres is an opulent, even exotic wine. It is rounder than Perrieres and if not fuller, then certainly lusher…Here flavors are muskier, and there can be an element of citrus.” Since Meursault lacks a Grand Cru, Meursault’s reputation for excellence is based on the Premier Crus, particularly the whites.

TYPE

White Wine, Chardonnay, 1er (Premier) Cru

This white variety originated in Burgundy, but is now grown around the world. Its flexibility to thrive in many regions translates to wide flavor profile in the market. Chardonnay is commonly used in making Champagne and sparkling wines.
