RATINGS

91The Wine Advocate

...it's all about the fruit. More expressive and rounder...completely delicious, if less powerful, leaning more to the hedonism side of the scale.

17Jancis Robinson

Very warm, welcoming, enveloping nose. Then with real lift and something – dare I say? – mineral on the palate. Very sweet but not heavy. Quite accessible...warm earthiness, sweetness and light tannins...

PRODUCER

RdV Vineyards

RdV Vineyards is in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, in Virginia, and it has ambitions to become the best known Virginia wine estate since Thomas Jefferson made wine at Monticello. RdV Vineyards was founded in 2004 by Rutger de Vink, an entrepreneur with a background in technology and an interest in winemaking. He worked a few grape harvests and informally studied winemaking in Bordeaux and California before planting vines on his Virginia estate in 2006. The estate has 16 acres of vineyards in 11 parcels planted to 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 12% Petit Verdot 8% Cabernet Franc. French oenologist Eric Boissenot is consulting winemaker. The debut wines were two Bordeaux-style blends, both from 2008.
