RATINGS

97Jeb Dunnuck

Terrific notes of cassis, camphor, sappy spring flowers, violets, and a touch of green tobacco...full-bodied, with incredible elegance and not a hard edge to be found. It has wonderful Cabernet character...

96Vinous / IWC

...a powerful wine laced with the essence of dark plum, lavender, sage, dried herbs, mint and crushed rocks...medium in body... Time in the glass brings out pretty floral overtones and redder tonalities of fruit...a gorgeous wine all around.

95The Wine Advocate

...vivacious notes of crushed blackberries, kirsch and mulberries with suggestions of eucalyptus, dark chocolate and pencil lead plus a touch of cedar chest. Medium to full-bodied, crunchy black and red fruit flavors exhilarate the palate with a racy backbone of freshness and beautifully poised, fine-grained tannins, finishing long with a bright, cheery skip in its step.

REGION

United States, California, Napa Valley, Coombsville

Coombsville AVA is one of Napa Valley’s newer appellations, having received its official designation only in 2011. Tucked just to the northeast of Los Carneros and a few minutes’ drive east of downtown Napa, the Coombsville appellation is relatively large at a total of 11,000 acres. The elevation varies from 100 to 1,000 feet, and the climate is moderated by marine breezes from the San Pablo Bay. The main grape varieties here are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Syrah and Pinot Noir.

TYPE

Red Wine, Cabernet Sauvignon

One of the most widely grown grape varieties, it can be found in nearly every wine growing region. A cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. It’s a hardy vine that produces a full-bodied wine with high tannins and great aging potential.
