RATINGS

95The Wine Advocate

...warm black cherries and currants on the nose with forest floor, black licorice, cardamom, mushroom and sweet wet leaves nuances. Medium to full-bodied, it's packed full of red and black fruits with layers of sweet spice and savory mushroom, with a great frame of grainy tannins and juicy acidity, finishing very long with spice-laced sweet fruit notes.

94Wine Spectator

Refined and sensuous, with floral cherry and raspberry flavors, accented by black tea and dusky spice notes that build tension and structure on the lingering finish.

91Vinous / IWC

Highly perfumed red berry preserve, Asian spice and rose oil aromas are lent vivacity by a smoky mineral nuance. Silky, expansive raspberry, bitter cherry and spicecake flavors show very good energy and pick up a smoky flourish with aeration. Finishes juicy, gently sweet and quite long, featuring lingering red fruit flavors and discreet tannins.

16Jancis Robinson

Sweet redcurrant juice aroma, simple clove spice and light tannin with a simple but lengthy fruit persistence on the palate. Lovely purity.

REGION

United States, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Dundee Hills

Dundee Hills AVA is in Yamhill County, and it is entirely contained within the Willamette Valley AVA, Oregon’s best known appellation. Dundee Hills is about 30 miles southwest of Portland, and has 1,300 vineyard acres. It was awarded AVA status in 2004 and, like much of Oregon, is known for Pinot Noir. Several of Oregon’s 20th century wine pioneers established their vineyards and wineries in Dundee Hills, adding to its status as a region long-recognized for producing high quality, iconic Oregon wines. Eyrie Vineyards, Erath Winery and Sokol Blosser remain some of Oregon’s most celebrated producers, and all were founded in what is now Dundee Hills in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
